Facial Treatments

Most of us consider facial treatments a luxury, not a necessity. Like massages, pedicures, manicures, or anything else related to spa treatments – we want the best and most relaxing experience that will also be worth the money. Because spa treatments tend to stay on the pricey side, most of us forgo monthly facials in favor of an easier beauty routine like buying an awesome cleanser or going for a different spa treatment instead, like a relaxing massage.

However, receiving regular facial treatments are more than just relaxing – they’re also incredibly beneficial to the skin for the long term. First of all, a good facial treatment will thoroughly cleanse the skin, better than any store bought cleanser. If you have blackheads or whiteheads, they will be softened and removed using a technique called manual extraction. Dry skin will be moisturized and enriched restoring the skin’s natural surface. A facial may also feature some exfoliation, a chemical peel, or a peel-off mask as well. After the facial treatment is completed, it can help to even out uneven skin tone, fade discolorations, and reduce wrinkles. Sometimes, your esthetician will apply sunscreen afterward because the skin will be particularly sensitive. This helps eliminate any irritation that may occur in the hours post-facial treatment.

Keep in mind that facial treatments are not the cure-all for problematic skin. However, they can help assist in the process of treating problematic skin. You should still perform your regular skincare routine as you normally would, but incorporate a facial treatment when you can. A facial treatment will not cure acne, redness, or rosacea, it will not eliminate saggy skin or puffy eyes. Again, a facial treatment is good as a supplemental procedure to your regular skincare routine.

What To Expect

There are several types of facial treatments available but with the help of your esthetician, you’ll be able to decide on the treatment right for you and your skin type. Most facial treatments will follow the same sort of steps, substituting different products for your skin type here and there.

  1. The treatment will begin with cleansing to remove makeup and to prepare the skin. Though facial treatment techniques differ, the cleanser will typically be a gel, cream, or lotion.
  2. Next, your esthetician will steam your face with warm water to loosen up the facial muscles and soften blackheads and whiteheads.
  3. fter the steam, your esthetician will begin the exfoliation process. Some typical exfoliation products that may be used are gels, creams, masks, or peels. These will be applied to the skin to treat blackheads, rid the face of dead skin cells, and generally clean up the face.
  4. Extractions are performed directly after exfoliation. Your esthetician will discuss different techniques with you prior, but this step should not be as painful as it sounds.
  5. After all that work, a short pamper-sesh is deserved. Usually, your esthetician will massage the face to deepen relaxation and stimulate the facial muscles as well as blood circulation.
  6. Finally, a facial mask will be applied, then removed, and the treatment will come to an end! Your esthetician will then discuss with you specific creams, gels, or serums based on your skin type and facial treatment.

If your skin is feeling dull, then why not treat yourself to a facial? You will feel so relaxed and the benefits are definitely worth it!
