Before your appointment
- Disclose any medical conditions, medications, or recent sun exposure during the consultation.
- Schedule a consultation with a qualified laser specialist to assess your skin type, discuss treatment goals, and address any concerns. A one time non-refundable fee of $40.00 is required for all new patient consults.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least four to six weeks before the laser treatment.
- Shave the treatment area a day 24-48 hours before the laser session, following specific instructions provided by your laser specialist.
- Exfoliate 3-5 days prior to your session
- Discontinue the use of all topical products containing retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, and glycolic acid at least one week prior to treatment.
- Do not apply any moisturizing creams, oils, lotions, deodorant, makeup, or sunscreen.
- Botox and Filler should be avoided 4 weeks prior to treatment.
- Avoid Accutane 6 months prior to treatment.
After your appointment
- Avoid hot water, hot baths, hot showers, saunas, and other activities that may cause excessive heat on the treated area for a few days.
- Avoid the gym for at least 24-48 hours and work out a sweat as this can lead to skin irritation.
- Apply a cool compress to the treated area if you experience any redness or discomfort.
- Laser Treatments Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks after treatment.
- Avoid scrubbing, exfoliating, or using abrasive skin care products on the treated area until advised otherwise.
- Refrain from using products containing retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, and glycolic acid for a specified period post-treatment, as advised by your laser specialist.
- Do NOT pluck or wax once the hairs have grown back. Shaving is only allowed before and after your treatments.
- Follicular edema (hair follicle swelling) or erythema (redness of the skin) is completely normal after Laser Hair removal and will subside within 5-15 minutes post treatment.
- Clients being treated with the following lasers: IPL, YAG, Fractional, Skin Tightening, and Tattoo removal may experience redness and swelling post treatment. This usually resolves anywhere between ½ hr to 24 hours. The client may experience tightening to the skin, this is completely normal as collagen and elastin is being stimulated. Use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to soothe the skin and aid in the healing process.
- A cooling gel, such as Humantrix will be applied after treatment to cool and calm the skin.
- Strictly adhere to sun protection measures by using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 in the weeks following the laser treatment.
- Schedule and attend any recommended follow-up appointments with your laser specialist to monitor progress and address any concerns.
