Electrolysis for hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses electrolysis to permanently remove unwanted hair from the body where a small probe is inserted into a hair follicle, and a low-level electric current is applied to the hair root to permanently remove the hair. The course begins with an introduction to basic concepts such as electric charge, ionization, and electrochemical cells. Students will also learn about different types of electrolysis cells and techniques for measuring and controlling electrolysis reactions, as well as common applications of electrolysis in fields such as energy storage, chemical synthesis, and materials science.

Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure that involves using a scalpel to remove dead skin cells and vellus hair (also known as “peach fuzz”) from the surface of the skin.
