Say Goodbye to Puffy Eyes

No one wants to start their day with puffy eyes and under-eye bags. Puffy eyes can make you look older, but the solution may be simpler than you think.

Puffy eyes can be the result of many factors, including a late night, unhealthy diet or it may simply be hereditary. Whatever the cause may be, you will want to sort out this issue quickly so that you can feel like yourself again.

Read on to find out a few ways you can naturally decrease puffy eyes at home.

Cooled Tea Bags

We don’t mean drinking tea, but rather placing cooled tea bags over your eyes until the skin tightens up. Cold compresses instantly tighten up the skin, but why not take it a step further? By placing cooled tea bags over your eyes, you are gaining the cooling benefits along with antioxidants. Green and black tea are our teas of choice for puffy eyes, because along with anti-inflammatory antioxidant properties, which stimulates circulation and decreases puffiness, they also contain caffeine to tighten and rejuvenate the undereye area.

Simply brew a strong cup of tea, with 2 tea bags. Allow to cool in the fridge for an hour or two and then allow the tea bags to works their magic on your bags!

Re-assess Your Diet

Our diet always plays a major role in not only our health, but our external appearance too. You can always tell when someone eats a clean diet by the way their skin may glow, or their eyes may shine. Just like an unhealthy diet can affect your skin, it can cause puffy eyes too.

Soda pop and other sugary drinks are always popular, but did you know they actually dehydrate your body? Dehydration in the body results in a dry, flaky, dull skin and contributes to bags under the eyes as water retention.

Sodium is another enemy when it comes to bags as the body retains any sodium you ingest, resulting in puffiness. Ditch the sugar and sodium and opt instead for loads of fresh, filtered water and fresh fruits and vegetables.

Massage

Another way to disperse any fluid under the eye is to gently massage the area. The skin under your eyes is extremely thin and delicate, so be very gentle when you do this. Use your index and middle finger and massage gently in small circular motions for a minute or two until your under-eye area appears firmer.

As you can see, just as there are many ways to get puffy eyes, there are just as many ways to get rid of them. Be sure to follow a healthy diet, get enough sleep and exercise regularly to keep your eyes fresh and send those bags packing!
